Guiding Organizations Through Change

In today’s rapidly evolving workplace, change is no longer an occasional disruption, it’s a constant. Technology rollouts, policy and legislative updates, shifting service demands, and evolving employee expectations continue to reshape how organizations operate. Even well‑planned change can stall when the people side isn’t managed, leading to uncertainty, resistance, and change fatigue. Successful change doesn’t happen by accident, it is guided, supported, and sustained.

Recognizing this reality, Peel Region is investing in building internal change capability, so leaders, sponsors, and practitioners share a common language and approach. This work began through a strong partnership between Organizational Learning and Development within Human Resources and the Corporate Project Management Office. Together with a reputable change management vendor, we deliver practical training and on‑demand resources aligned with leading practices and the Association of Change Management Professionals (ACMP), using Peel‑specific scenarios, tools, and templates that can be applied when needed.

A Tiered Approach to Change Capability

Change impacts people differently depending on their role and level of influence. That’s why a one-size-fits-all course rarely works. Our learning model is built to meet employees where they are, whether they’re leading change, sponsoring it, refreshing existing expertise, or simply looking for an introduction to what change management is and what to expect.

Together with a reputable change management vendor, we offer a set of complementary learning options:

  • A three-day ACMP Change Management Certification Workshop for change practitioners
  • A one-day Change Sponsor Workshop for leaders accountable for championing change
  • A one-day Change Management Booster Session for experienced or certified practitioners
  • An on-demand Intro to Change Management e-module with short, interactive videos

Together, these options create an integrated change ecosystem, building shared capability across employees, practitioners, and leaders.

Deep Dive: ACMP Change Management Certification (3-Day Workshop)

Our three-day ACMP Change Management Certification Workshop is designed for Peel Region staff who want to pursue ACMP certification, whether they’re currently leading change initiatives or preparing to do so. The course covers a broad spectrum of change management practices, principles, and methodologies aligned to ACMP-accepted approaches, with emphasis on advanced topics that help participants understand, apply, and evaluate leading practices.

A core feature is practical, scenario-based learning. Participants work through real-world cases and apply tools such as stakeholder analysis, change impact assessment, communication planning, and resistance management. Participants also receive resources and editable templates they can use on demand through Peel Region’s internal site, supporting consistent, repeatable practice long after the workshop ends.

Strengthening Practice: Booster Session for Change Practitioners (1 Day)

For certified change practitioners and experienced professionals, the one-day Booster Session refreshes and deepens capability. It provides an overview of advanced topics and explores how recognized change methodologies can be applied within Peel Region’s public-sector context. As with the certification workshop, learning is anchored in scenario-based practice using Peel Region–specific cases and supported by tools, resources, and editable templates participants can carry directly into their work.

Leading from the Top: Change Sponsor Workshop (1 Day)

Active and visible sponsorship is one of the strongest predictors of successful change. Our one-day Change Sponsor Workshop supports leaders with varying levels of change management experience by clarifying sponsor expectations and focusing on practical application.

The session provides clear definitions of the roles required for successful implementation with special emphasis on leadership behaviours that build trust and momentum. Through discussion and scenarios, sponsors practice reinforcing the case for change, aligning messages, and addressing resistance at a strategic level. Leaders also receive practical tools and editable templates available on demand via Peel Region’s internal site.

On-Demand Learning: Intro to Change Management e-Module

To broaden access and build a shared foundation, an Intro to Change Management e-module is available on demand. Delivered through short, interactive videos, it introduces the change management process and methodology, clarifies what employees can expect and the roles they play, and normalizes common reactions to change. It also offers tips for managing emotional responses constructively and points learners to tools and resources that support adaptation.

Bringing It All Together: Creating Sustainable Change

These learning options work together to build sustainable change capability across the organization, from employees gaining baseline understanding, to practitioners applying advanced tools, to sponsors actively championing the change. The result is greater clarity and consistency, stronger leadership alignment, and improved adoption, helping to reduce change fatigue and deliver outcomes that stick.

Guiding organizations through change means investing in people, equipping leaders, and providing practical resources that can be used when it matters most. With a consistent approach and shared toolkit, we’re embedding change management as a core organizational skill; one change at a time.
